You want to become a better person.
But what does that even mean?
How do you become a better person? What’s better for you and for others? How do you measure that?
Sometimes our desire to become a better person is so vague that we don’t ever grow into that person. We just become more extreme versions of ourselves.
Think about it this way – what do you want other people to think and say about you?
That should be the best version of yourself, and you can get there. When you’re the best version of you, everyone benefits.

Steps To Become a Better Person
There are a lot of different ways to become a better person and lot of different things you can do. These are some of the top steps that set you up to be the best version of you and to be someone other people appreciate and admire.
1. Meditate in the Mornings
Spend some time every morning to reflect and focus on your day. Think through what you want to accomplish. Think about the person to want to be and decide how you want act.
The first hour of your day has a huge impact on your entire day, so by taking the time to set the right attitude, you’ll be the person you want to be.
2. Be Grateful
Also take time at the beginning and end of your day to be grateful. Reflect on everything that you have, reminding yourself that others don’t have the same things.
Gratitude makes you more joyful, because you’re not focused on what you don’t have, but are happy for what you do have. Joyful people are just more enjoyable to be around.
3. Set Routines in Your Life
Don’t do things as they come. Set patterns in your life for things you do repeatedly. You don’t have to have everything planned out, but set apart regular times to for routine, such as exercise, reading, or certain types of work.
When you have routines in your life, you actually have more energy for other things, and you have more time for other people. You’re much more available to pursue certain goals or invest in relationships.
4. Make Time for Other People
Make relationships a priority in your life, whether it be at home, work, or community. Definitely set boundaries for yourself, but also be willing set aside time to spend with others or to help others.
Showing you value others enriches your life and makes you more trustworthy to people.
5. Compliment People
Make a conscious effort to compliment people, even people you don’t like. Don’t compliment so much on superficial things like appearance, but focus on character, personality and actions.
Complimenting people helps you appreciate others more, and in turn, treat them with more respect. As a result you’ll also be more respected.
6. Accept Feedback
Learn to accept feedback from people who matter. Not everyone gives feedback, and you shouldn’t listen to every voice out there. However, choose a few people you trust to give you honest criticism.
When you have people in your life who you can accept feedback from, they can point out your weaknesses, flaws and blindspots. It’ll be uncomfortable, but you’ll be able to improve.
7. Volunteer or Donate
Volunteer both formally and informally. Volunteer your time with a nonprofit, as well as making yourself available to people who need help. Donate to a charity you care about, and be generous with the what you have to people around you.
Being generous makes you more confident and bold, because you’re not afraid of losing anything. Not only will people benefit from your generosity, but they’ll also give you their gratitude.
8. Lean on Your Strengths
Whatever your passions and skills are, use them to the best of your ability. Use them in contexts where they can have the most impact. Work on refining and improving them.
Your skills and passions are a gift. When you use them to their fullest potential, you become your best self and the world benefits from your gifts.
Set Goals to Improve Yourself
When you take these steps to improve yourself, you’ll start becoming the kind of person you’ve always dreamed of being, and the kind of person that people respect and admire.
But, it doesn’t happen by making taking these actions randomly. They need to be intentional, otherwise they won’t be a part of your life and you’ll never grow as a person.
Whichever areas you want to improve in, set goals in place for them. Commit to doing them on a regular basis, and you’ll start seeing yourself gradually transform.
